EXHAUST COATING

CGB-1000 "SINGLE STAGE"

If Batman knew about this stuff when his car was being built, he would have kicked our ass for the recipe.

CGB-1000 is a break-through coating capable of providing extremely high levels of thermal protection in a very thin film. It can withstand substrate temperatures of over 1700°F and an environmental temperature of 2000°F! In addition, direct flame will not cause delamination.

CGB-1000 is designed to protect and insulate exhaust system components...either be it cast iron, SS, or mild steel. Testing has shown that CGB-1000 is capable of maintaining adhesion at temperatures in excess of 1800°F. CGB-1000 produces a very hard, smooth, chemical resistant, durable, color stable finish.

PROPERTIES

Thermal Shock: Survives thermal cycling 1055F to 32F

  Applied Film Thickness: .001"-.0015"

Corrosion Resistance: Excellent. Resists all acids, solvents, and most chemicals

Flexibility/Bending Adhesion: 180 degree full load forward and reverse

Thermal Temperature Resistance: Survives base metal temps in excess of 1700F. Handles short blasts to 2000F

The coatings in the past can't keep up with specs like this! Truly a breakthrough in exotic coating technology!

We did the shiny silver stuff years ago. So what happened to it?

Although ceramics do exhibit fantastic thermal barrier qualities (and still remains to be the Number One coating of choice in the country...mostly because of its bling factor) use of it with turbo car exhaust manifolds REALLY put the coating to the test...color stability was rather weak (it would look like galvanized steel after a short period of time) plus, the highest temp it could be subjected to was around 1300°F skin temperature with a maximum of 1600°F exhaust gas temps running through it. Now folks, a turbo car's EGT after a sik spirited quarter-mile blast can easily hit 1700 degrees and beyond.

Soooooooooo....not wanting to accept a compromise just because our weapon of choice is turbocharged meth missiles, it was time to look for alternative methods of not only having a stable thermal barrier on exhaust manifolds, but a coating that would ALSO offer very high corrosion resistance with rock solid color stability. We have found it with CGB-1000. The best of both worlds!

We don't limit ourselves to just factory parts but if you have something particular in mind (from dump tubes to wastegate housings), and within allowable dimensions, we probably can do it! Even ZTR lawnmower exhausts! The pieces pictured here are just a sampler plate. Use your imagination and email for a price quote.

Headers? We absolutely love 'em, but have you ever felt the blistering heat that radiates off of them after a spirited fun drive? If your hand gets too close, it will feel like you just touched the sun's surface without an Ove' Glove. CGB-1000 will decrease those crazy underhood temps that emanate from these stainless firecrackers. In this pic to the left, case in point. Bless its heart when the hood is shut!

YOU SAY YOU WANT MORE HEAT CONTROL?

Wraps are ugly and actually promotes cracking of the part by trapping moisture...heat shields get in the way and does absolutely nothing for the longevity and appearance of the part.

Enter: CGB-1000 "DUAL STAGE"

This is the epitome of exhaust top coating technology.

Single stage ceramics...so called "turbo coatings", spray plasma, and colorful fashion statements cannot hold a candle to our dual stage procedure. Not biased...just fact.

Our Dual Stage coating process will further enhance and amplify the insulative properties of CGB-1000.

First stage: TBC Insulative Barrier

Second stage: CGB-1000 Top Coat

TBC is purely an insulative barrier that goes on before the CGB-1000 top coat. Very dull...very ugly...but very powerful. Simply put, what this does is boosts up not only the thermal barrier ability of the part, but to elevate the part's ability to withstand temperatures by up to 300°F! What this means is NOW you can now have an exhaust component withstand not 1700°F at the substrate level, but freakin' 2000°F plus! If your car is hitting EGT's past THIS level, then you must be peeling yourself off the seat with a spatula after a hard run.

Just one more layer of protection for those that REALLY want to keep that heat contained. The best of the best.

Pictured above is the first stage of application...our incredibly effective TBC

YOU SAY YOU WANT X-TREME HEAT CONTROL?

Truly the most anyone can do to a part for the most advanced heat control technology available to man.

Enter: CGB-1000 "TRIPLE STAGE"

This is the Pike's Peak of inside AND outside exhaust coating technology. The FULL enchilada. No other shop offers a triple stage coating process because either of the extra work involved, not large enough profit margin, or they didn't know it was even possible. Well, we're sik enough to do it and sik enough to offer it...at a price that is very reasonable!

If a little bit of something is good...then a little bit more is even better!

Single stage ceramics...so called "turbo coatings", spray plasma, and colorful fashion statements cannot hold a candle to our triple stage procedure. Not biased...just fact.

Many people throughout the years have asked us if we coat the ID of manifolds, turbine housings, etc with the CGB-1000 coating we offer. This has been a big fat "no"
in the past and still is a big fat "no" today.

Why?

To fully coat the ID of pipe, one must use a different process to do it correctly. CGB-1000 is NOT designed to be used on the inside of a part. Our TBS insulative barrier (as described above) can be used on the ID, but we thought it was a sloppy and inefficient alternative to something that was much better suited for the job.

The answer...

TLHB

STARTING FROM THE INSIDE OUT

This stuff is specifically designed for the inside of exhaust components. Originally, it was designed to be used inside chrome headers in the hotrodder sector to keep them from bluing. It offers up excellent thermal barrier qualities. Direct flame doesn't even phase this stuff! And the fantastic side benefit? It smoothes out the surface of the part when applied. So all those cast iron users will LOVE this fact alone. Built-in port job. Touchdown!

Our Triple Stage coating process is the TOTAL package.

First stage: TLHB ID Coating

Second stage: TBC Insulative Barrier

Third stage: CGB-1000 Top Coat

How is TLHB applied to the ID of the component? That's the tricky part. We have designed a method that does not involve spraying (as it is impossible to get ALL THE WAY THROUGH a manifold for example using this method). Our application involves a good swabbing from start to end that gets into every nook and cranny of the piece. We can't divulge all the secrets but we will say it is quite creative and it gets the job done.

The bottomline to you and your wallet using Triple Stage?

  • THERMAL BARRIER PROPERTIES REDUCE RADIANT TEMPERATURE
  • VERY HIGH ABRASION AND CORROSION RESISTANCE
  • INCREASED GAS VELOCITIES WHICH RESULTS IN FASTER SPOOL-UP
  • AVERAGE DROP OF 33% IN UNDERHOOD TEMPERATURE
  • SMOOTHED PORTS FOR BETTER FLOW
  • HORSEPOWER GAINS AVERAGING 3% FROM INCREASED GAS VELOCITY

  • TRIPLE STAGE PROCESS THAT NO ONE ATTEMPTS GIVING YOU THE ADVANTAGE

  • ITS "BATMAN-LIKE" FINISH LOOKS FANTASTIC UNDER THE HOOD!

Check around. Be a smart guy...shop wise. Then come see us.
